Responsibilities & Key Functions

As an Infrastructure and Project Management Specialist, you will design, implement, and oversee infrastructure projects in the region. Responsibilities include:

1. Infrastructure Development & Implementation
  • Oversee the planning, design, and execution of infrastructure projects, ensuring adherence to UNOPS policies, international engineering standards, and best practices.
  • Lead project assessments, feasibility studies, and risk analysis to ensure project sustainability.
  • Coordinate with local authorities, government agencies, donors, and stakeholders to align infrastructure projects with regional development goals.
2. Project Management & Execution
  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and budgets to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Provide technical guidance and strategic recommendations to teams handling infrastructure and engineering projects.
  • Ensure the use of sustainable construction practices while incorporating climate-resilient infrastructure solutions.
3. Stakeholder Engagement & Capacity Building
  • Establish strong working relationships with government ministries, municipalities, NGOs, and private sector partners.
  • Provide technical support and training to enhance the capabilities of local engineers and project managers.
  • Advocate for inclusive, gender-responsive, and environmentally sustainable infrastructure solutions.
Qualifications & RequirementsEducation
  • A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related field is required.
  • A Bachelor’s degree combined with additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a Master’s degree.
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in infrastructure development, civil engineering, or project management.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale infrastructure projects in post-conflict or developing regions is an asset.
  • Experience with UN agencies, international NGOs, or development organizations is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of results-based project management, risk assessment, and budget management.
Language Requirements
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required.
  • Knowledge of Arabic or Hebrew is an advantage.
