Battalion Chief

Chevron North America Products is selecting internal department applicants for the position of Battalion Chief, located in Pascagoula, Mississippi.

The Team Lead, Frie Protection (Battalion Chief) acts as Incident Commander during incidents, including fire, medical aid, hazardous material, rescue, security, oil spill and other emergencies. Works closely with all levels of employees throughout the refinery, including management, operations, maintenance, technical, and others.

The Battalion Chief will lead the commitment to a safe, incident and injury-free workplace through support of the Safeguard Learning Tool. This position is responsible for development, training, and leadership of their assigned crew of Emergency Response Team (ERT) members. Capable of filling all positions of the Incident Command System (ICS) during Fire, Medical, Rescue, Oil Spill, and Hazmat emergencies at the Chevron Pascagoula Refinery. This is a first level supervisor position leading a group of Fire Specialists (8 per crew). This position works closely with the Refinery Shift Leader (RSL) and reports to the Fire Protection Team Leader (Fire Chief). The Battalion Chief will be issued a company cell phone and is on emergency call-out.

This is a Safety Sensitive Position.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to
• Directs all Chevron Fire Protection personnel, volunteer Emergency Response Team (ERT) members and contract Security force during all fire, medical, Hazmat and rescue emergencies.
• Sets up the Incident Command System during all incidents and functions as Incident Commander until relieved.
• Works a rotating 12-hour shift schedule.
• Provides leadership and training for ERT members.
• Attends monthly training on scheduled days off.
• Obtains certifications from offsite schools.
• Provides responsibility for proper and timely documentation of all incidents.
• Acts as the Alternate Facility Security Officer (AFSO) for the refinery on nights and weekends.
• Develops lesson plans, provides visual / oral presentations, and interacts with senior management.
• Handles confidential and sensitive information in situations that involve security matters, also to include medical, drug and alcohol issues.
• Operates and trouble shoots emergency equipment (fire trucks, medical, rescue, hazmat, and all related emergency equipment).
• Assists in all daily activities of routine work in Fire Protection.
• Interacts, diplomatically, with the public, local law, and fire agencies

Required Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 7 years' total experience at a Chevron Refinery.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in an emergency response organization.
• Have good working knowledge of all emergency response disciplines (Fire, Rescue, Hazmat, and Medical).
• Demonstrated leadership skills, along with the ability to lead teams and motivate employees.
• Must possess a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) or be able to obtain one within the first 6 months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:
• ICS 100 certification.
• ICS 200 certification.
• Experience on Pascagoula Refinery ERT.
• Experience in permitting work (hot work and confined space entry), familiar with refinery instructions as it pertains to permitting.
• Current Emergency Medical Technician certification.
• Basic computer skills and be familiar with using Microsoft Office programs.

Relocation Options:

Relocation will not be considered within Chevron parameters.

International Considerations:

Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
