EMC and Electrical Safety Engineer

Enable safe, reliable and compliant HVAC solutions that people can trust - today and into the future.

Your role
As an EMC and Electrical Safety Engineer within our Digital & Controls Business Unit (DAC), you contribute directly to the safety, quality, and reliability of our HVAC products. In this role, you translate European directives and standards into clear, practical design guidance, helping development teams make confident decisions in hardware development. You also perform testing and validation activities in our in-house laboratory, or act as an interface between development teams and external test laboratories.
You will join the international Digital & Controls team, with most colleagues working from our development hubs in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, and Mertzwiller, France. You work closely with approximately three agile development teams, supporting them with expert guidance on EMC and Electrical Safety throughout the full product lifecycle. These teams develop a wide range of hardware, including heat pumps, boilers, and smaller components such as thermostats, box switches, and IoT gateways. From time to time, you will also collaborate with colleagues from other Development Units on larger, cross-product initiatives related to electrical safety.
This is a hybrid role, based in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. You are encouraged to work on-site for a minimum of two days per week, while benefiting from flexibility to work from home. We support your home office set-up and cover travel costs.

Your key tasks
  • Interpret and maintain up-to-date knowledge of EMC and Electrical Safety standards (such as EN 60335-1 and the EN 61000 series) and European directives (EMC, LVD, RED), translating them into clear and usable design guidance for hardware development.
  • Partner with development teams to advise on EMC and Electrical Safety topics, including design reviews and improvement actions.
  • Plan and perform indicative EMC measurements and Electrical Safety tests in our in-house laboratory and coordinate full compliance testing with external laboratories.
  • Ensure compliance documentation and evidence are well organised and maintained throughout the complete product lifecycle.
  • Coordinate certification activities when required, acting as a constructive interface between internal teams and external partners.

What you bring
  • Min. 3+ years of experience in EMC testing and Electrical Safety validation
  • Experience with embedded hardware development and Printed Circuit Assemblies (PCAs)
  • Familiarity with relevant European directives and standards for electronic products
  • An analytical and collaborative mindset with a proactive, quality-focused approach
  • Strong communication skills in English: Dutch is a plus, not a must.
  • An understanding of Agile / SCRUM development environments
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field

What we offer
  • A permanent contract.
  • Next to a solid monetary compensation, receive a strong pension package.
  • Benefit from a healthy work-life balance with 40 holiday days per year (27 of your own choosing plus 13 office closure days), based on a full-time contract.
  • Take advantage of flexible home-working policies and a home-office budget.
  • Enjoy discounts on our products and insurances.
  • Join a company in the heart of the energy transition and build a flourishing career with us.
