Pharmacy Technician
Position Summary:
ARCK is a specialty clinic and looking for a Pharmacy Technician to join our practice. This position helps support our 11 provider medical group by preparing and dispensing medications right from the office. The typical work hours are Monday-Thursday 7:30am – 5:00pm and Friday 7:30am – 12:30pm.
The ideal candidate will have the following background and experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum one to five years of experience in a retail pharmacy setting. Specialty pharmacy experience is a plus.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or State Pharmacy Board requirement (recommended).
- Experience with prior authorizations
Under the supervision of a physician, provide dispensing of medications to patients. This includes technical aspects of medication dispensing, record keeping and inventory control as well as helping with financial assistance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Verifies patient demographics, insurance information and prescription information
- Completed prior authorizations
- Processes prescriptions and bills insurance for payment
- Review and sign paperwork
- Troubleshoots insurance rejections
- Submits prior authorizations
- Checks for drugs interactions
- Applies for financial assistance through foundations and co-pay assistance for high dollar medications
- Tracks and reports monthly inventory in computer
- Ensures that the most cost effective drugs are ordered from vendors
- Label prescriptions
- Ensures prescriptions and paperwork are verified by provider
- Obtains patient’s signature on all medications being dispensed
- File and store prescriptions
- File and maintain daily reports
- Documents all interactions with the patient in the EMR
