About the Role


As a seasonal independent contractor with OpenEd’s Assessment Team, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality assessments to students across multiple states. Testing occurs during Beginning of Year (BOY), Middle of Year (MOY), and End of Year (EOY) windows. Some states may also offer opportunities outside these windows as calendars are finalized.


Independent contractors set their own availability and must complete required training and certification prior to being scheduled to support students. While seasonal, this is a key student- and family-facing opportunity in a virtual or in-person environment.



Your Immediate Impact

Job Requirements:



For All Contractors (Testers & Proctors):



  • Completion of required training and certification prior to participation

  • Comfort using Zoom or Google Meet and navigating digital tools

  • Ability to maintain a quiet, professional setting during testing sessions

  • Strict adherence to test scripts and assessment protocols

  • Professional and clear communication with students and families



Testers:



  • Access to a computer with camera capabilities for video conferencing

  • Access to a separate touchscreen tablet for live scoring

  • Successful completion of a practice session with a Team Lead prior to working with students 



Proctors:



  • Provide support during the assessment session

  • Introduce the session and remain available to assist

  • Help students stay on track and focused

  • Monitor the session without administering the test directly



Success Metrics: 



  • 100% of contractors complete training and certification before testing

  • 95% of scheduled sessions start on time with correct materials and setup

  • 90%+ of testers pass their practice session on the first attempt

  • 100% of testers and proctors follow protocols and scripts as assigned

  • 100% of families receive clear and professional communication during testing

Team & Autonomy:



  • As a seasonal contractor, you will work independently but are supported by a Team Lead who will help coordinate training, schedules, and certification.

  • You’ll have flexibility in setting your own hours, but required will be a minimum of 25 hours  open in your schedule (up to 40 hours max) during a given testing window.

  • While the role is seasonal, many contractors are invited back for multiple testing windows throughout the year. 

  • Between seasons, you will receive communication about future training and testing opportunities.
