School Store Manager

Blair Academy is seeking to hire a full-time School Store Manager. This position is responsible for the daily operations of the campus store, including continuing to optimize Blair’s brand, managing inventory, overseeing sales, coordinating with vendors, and providing excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff and visitors. This position is ideal for someone with experience in retail operations, merchandising, and school or campus-based environments. The School Store Manager is a non-exempt, non-essential position and reports directly to the Chief Financial and Operations Officer (CFOO).

Duties & responsibilities:

  • Operational management
    • Inventory management:
      • Ensure all Blair wear and gear ordered includes the right School colors and logos;
      • Order, receive and stock books (with MBS Direct), supplies and other merchandise;
      • Conduct regular inventory checks and managing stock levels of classroom supplies, apparel and gifts; and
      • Manage returns and exchanges with vendors.
    • Sales and customer service:
      • Assist students, faculty, staff and visitors with their purchases;
      • Handle special orders for textbooks and supplies; and
      • Resolve customer complaints and issues promptly and efficiently.
    • Financial management:
      • Oversee daily sales and ensuring accurate cash handling of student bank cash
      • withdrawals;
      • Prepare and manage the bookstore’s budget; and
      • Maintain financial records and preparing reports for the administration.
  • Technology and systems
    • Point of sale (POS) system management:
      • Operate and maintain the bookstore's POS system (/Odin).
    • Online store management:
      • Manage the bookstore’s online sales platform; and
      • Ensure accurate online inventory and processing online orders.
  • Additional duties
    • Set up student mailboxes annually;
    • Work with Director of Financial Aid to order course materials for financial aid students;
    • Process and print all employee and student debit ID cards annually; and
    • Assist students with UPS and FedEx shipments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or retail management from a four-year college or university preferred;
  • At least one year of related transferable experience in merchandising/retail required;
  • At least one year of experience in a management role preferred;
  • Comfortable and proficient using technology to support and optimize the digital store experience
  • Experience working in a school store is highly desirable; and
  • Professional written and verbal communication, organizational and interpersonal skills a must.

Salary & other compensation:
Base pay range $22-27 per hour. Salary dependent on numerous factors, including but not limited to education and experience.
